A Singer Christmas for the Family

A Singer Christmas for the Family (1963) The Mastertone Orchestra featuring the Don Janse Chorale. I received this album when I was a child and it was one of the albums I would play over and over. I was fortunate to recently find a better copy at a Thrift Store. I did my best to eliminate pips and pops without deteriorating the music.

Side 2
01 The First Noel

Favorite Christmas Songs From Singer

Favorite Christmas Songs from Singer (1964) The Singer Orchestra, under the direction of George Siravo - featuring Steve Clayton and the Don Janse Chorale. I particularly like this album jacket as it shows Donna Reed, Carl Betz, Paul and Patty Peterson from "The Donna Reed Show" I did my best to remove pips and pops without deteriorating the music. After I uploaded this file, I noticed that there is a typo in on #12. It takes forever to upload so I just thought I would point out the typo here. The Twelve Days Of Christmaswav.mp3 it should be The Twelve Days Of Christmas.mp3 Enjoy :-)

David Rose & Felix Slatkin Albums

A friend of mine pointed out that "The David Rose Christmas Album" and Season's Greetings, The Fantastic Strings Of Felix Slatkin were cut short at the end. I am re-uploading them and will post the new link at the end of those original two posts. If anyone notices something isn't right or the links are no longer working, please let me know. I thank you.

Geoff Love - Christmas With Love

Geoff Love - Christmas With Love

This album is very relaxing and really adds to the Christmas Spirit. This was an eBay find from a vendor in the UK. It was interesting that it still had some Christmas wrapping paper on the jacket. I carefully removed the few pieces but there are a couple spots where the wrapping paper wasn't removed carefully and it took part of the picture with it. I hope everyone enjoys listening to this as much as I have. A couple tracks may be lower in volume as after I copy them to my computer, the level is low and I have to amplify it, but in some songs, as the music crescendos, increasing the volume causes over modulation. The volume levels should be loud enough not to impede ones listening pleasure.

The track listing is as follows:
Side One
1 White Christmas
2 Sleigh Ride
3 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
4 Ding, Dong, Merrily On High
5 Mary's Boy Child
6 The Christmas Song
Side Two
1 Jingle Bells
2 Little Donkey
3 Winter Wonderland
4 Coventry Carol
5 The Little Drummer Boy
6 Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

The Golden Sandpipers

Sorry that this is a small post, but I wanted to share with you a record from my youth.

The Golden Sandpipers with The Jimmy Carroll Orchestra "Winter Wonderland" "Mr. Snow"
Golden Records 616. I don't know the year and haven't been able to find much information about this record online but am guessing the 1960's. If anyone knows the year, I'd appreciate a small comment about it. I hope to be posting more, both here and on my non-Christmas Record Blog. It's difficult sometimes to post something that nobody else has posted or hasn't been released on CD.

Ferrante & Teicher - We Wish You A Merry Christmas - United Artists UAS-8536 (1966)

Updated 7/20/09 I recently purchased the original release of this album where the artwork on the back of the jacket was in color. Rather than re upload the zipfile, I just added the image to this post. Though it is in color, at some point, someone who previously owned this album was a smoker as the paper sleeve and the album jacket are nicotine stained. If anyone wants the original artwork, just ''right-click'' on the image to save it to your computer.
Ferrante & Teicher - We Wish You A Merry Christmas United Artist Records UAS-6536 Released in 1966. This particular post is from 2 separate albums as a couple tracks on the original album kept skipping. I used a reissue that Mistletoe Records MLP-1218 released in an abridged form. 3 songs from the original are not on the Mistletoe Record, but all 11 songs are in this post in the correct order. There are a couple very slight glitches in a couple songs, but it really doesn't effect the music. (I use the counterweight at a heavier weight than the cartridge and stylus on the tonearm so the stylus doesn't press into the grooves very hard and found that the music sounds much better then when I have the cartridge heaver than the counterweight.) There was a very slight warp in the record (Probably because the album wasn't stored correctly before I purchased it) so the stylus moves up and down a little but doesn't lift off the record.
As for the artwork. I'm not 100 percent on the Holly and Ribbon and Candy Canes that are on the bottom on the back of the jacket. I've seen just the artwork for the section with the Holly, Ribbon and Candy Canes on another BLOG and it is in color. I just can't remember who's BLOG I saw it on. Also, there is a typo on both of the album jackets where it has H. Oncrati instead of H. Oronati.

Sorry that I haven't been blogging recently. I hope to finish something and post it tomorrow, 9/16/08.

Also, Christmas is just a little over 100 days from now. :-) I can hardly wait!!!

Jackie Gleason - All I Want For Christmas

Jackie Gleason - All I Want For Christmas - Capitol Records STBB-346 2-Record set released in 1969. Edited 7/28/09 I re ripped this album at 320kb bitrate. I also figured out how to remove the background noise/turntable rumble so this album should sound much better. Because the bitrate is higher, the zipfile is much larger and will take longer to d/l. I do not have any immediate plans to re do any of my previous posts as it is very time consuming. (This is truly a labor of love and I want to concentrate on music I still want to post) Most people have indicated that the music sounds great at 128kb.

At some point, I may decide to go through the music I have already posted and remove the background noise/turntable rumble. If I do so, I will re upload the file and edit the posts stating that I did. I will also start a new post and indicate which ones I redid. This particular re rip took over three hours to complete including the time it to to upload the new file.

Included in this posting is the full front and back cover and the full inside cover. To do the full images, I had to scan 6 sections and paste them together. On the left side of the inside cover, something got mixed up and I wasn't able to correct it with out having to rescan each section. Basically, the track listing are misaligned. I'm including them for show as the letters for the track listings are blurry. They aren't posted here but included in the compressed file. I tried to clean up the jacket, but it didn't work so well as one can see on the back of the album jacket.

Vinyl Records are coming back!!!

I just watched the CBS Evening news and they did a report about Vinyl Records. They showed someone who has an extensive record collection and he goes to stores that sell used records. Then they showed some recording artists starting to release their music on the traditional 12" vinyl. On the downside of this, they will cost about $20.00

I just went to CBS.com and there was a story on How Vinyl Got It's Groove Back

Here is the link:

http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/eveningnews/main3420.shtml

Apparently, the link remains the same, but it brings up different news stories and not the one about Vinyl Records Making A Comeback.

The David Rose Christmas Album Capital ST-2853

The David Rose Christmas Album Capital ST 2853 Released in 1968. I noticed on the Ernie (Not Bert) blog that he had never seen this album. Since I have it in my collection I figured I would post it here and hopefully will see it. I also hope to come across the two other David Rose Christmas albums and add them to my Vinyl Collection.

I want to apologize that I haven't been posting much lately. It's just that it takes a bit of time to copy the album to the computer, edit out 60Hz hum, clicks and hiss. Then listen to each track to be sure that it sounds ok and then scan the album jacket it 4 sections and stitch them together to form the full cover. and on top of this, I have other things to do too. I enjoy bringing the joyful music of Christmas to other's so they can enjoy it as much as I do.

Track Listing Is As Follows:

01 Carol Of The Bells

The Christmas Voices Of Walter Schumann

The Christmas Voices Of Walter Schumann Pickwick Records SPCX-1003 I haven't a clue what year this album was released. I looked on both sides of the record and the album cover and can't find any date. I would guess this is from the early 1970's. On the back of the album jacket, it indicates that this a a Pickwick/33 Re-release.

There is a CD on Amazon.com under the same title, but none of the songs from this album are on that CD and the Artwork is different.

There are 13 songs on this album, but they are on two tracks, one on each side. I tried to separate them, but the gap between the songs is very small. The songs basically overlap the end of one song and the beginning of the next one.

I love the assorted ornaments on the cover. I remember some of them from my childhood and still have some of my Grandmother's ornaments.

The songs are in the following order:
Side One
Christmas In The Air
Jingle Bells
Silent Night
Carol Of The Bells
White Christmas
Patapan
Ave Maria
Side Two
Wonderful Counselor
Wolcum Yole
Mary, Mary
Winter Wonderland
The Lord's Prayer
Adeste Fideles

The Winston Singers - Christmas Carols

The Winston Singers - Christmas Carols Wyncote Records W 9115 Released in 1964.

I did my best to eliminate any pips and pops but the last song on side 2 has a flaw in the vinyl but it doesn't skip.

This is a nice record and I think it might be rare as the track listing on the back of the album jacket lists a couple songs that aren't on the record. I love the artwork on this particular album.
The actual track listing is as follows:
Side 1.
01 Deck The Halls
02 The First Noel
03 Jingle Bells
04 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
05 Go Tell It On The Mountain
06 Joy To The World
07 Hail To Christmas

Side 2.
01 Hark The Herald Angels Sing
02 Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
03 O Come All Ye Faithful
04 Good King Wenceslas
05 Christmas Tree
06 I Saw Three Ships
07 Christmas Hymn

I thank everyone for your comments. I will be reposting links for the ones that have expired. Rather then edit earlier posts, I will create a new post and put current links for them. Unfortunately with Rapidshare, if a file hasn't been downloaded in 90 days, the link expires.

I will do my best to repost the links tomorrow, July 13.

Thanks again for all your comments.

Christmas in July will be here in 13 days.

Robert Rheims - For The Whole Family At Christmas

Robert Rheims - For The Whole Family At Christmas - Rheims Records LP-6010 Released in 1961. I did my best to remove the pips and pops and on 1 or 2 tracks they can be heard but it really doesn't interfere with the music. I can't decide if I like this album or Robert Rheims "Merry Christmas Carols Carols" better. I love all three Christmas Albums that Robert Rheims released. We Wish You A Merry Christmas EP RCA LSP-277

We Wish You A Merry Christmas EP RCA LSP-277 Radio Shack Special Collector's Edition Released in 1968. I actually have 3 of these EP's 2 are in very bad shape (I didn't take very good care of some of my records when I was younger) The 3rd one I was fortunate to find at an online used vinyl record dealer and it had the paper sleeve.

I can remember going to Radio Shack when, I believe, they were giving these away. (I don't remember if I had to purchase something or not to get the record.) I was only 10 at the time. I played this record every day until Christmas that year. The 2 records that are in bad shape are still playable, but very scratchy and I wrote all over the labels. I wish I would've known the value that these records would become, but alas, it wasn't until my later teens that I started taking better care of my records.

Johnny Cole and His Chorus - Wishing You A Merry Christmas

Johnny Cole and His Chorus - "Wishing You A Merry Christmas" Crown Records CLP 5132 Released in 1959. I love the album jacket. Though it doesn't look like it in the picture, it reminds me of shiny foil wrapping paper. I did my best to eliminate pips and pops, but there is a defect in the vinyl (air bubble) and though the music doesn't skip, where the defect is, it sounds like a scratch.

Track listing is as follows:
